q.when you plug in an ethernet cable to a laptop currently connected via wireless, does the computer automatically switch to the cable? how do you manage the connection swapping?
a.almost all computers will switch to an ethernet cable if one is plugged in. that’s because computers have a prioritized list of connections, and ethernet is usually at the top of the list by default. to see that list and make changes to it on windows 7, go to control panel/network & internet/network & sharing/manage wireless networks. from there you can see the list of networks your computer sees and can drag and drop them to change the priority.
on macs, go to system preferences/network and you’ll see a list on the left that you can drag and drop to reprioritize.
q.just what is involved in setting up a wi-fi dvd player? is it a plug-and-play deal or are there some sort of service contracts or internet connections or additional hardware required?
